We went to the park after storytime today, instead of playing on the jungle gym we took a stroll through the garden. It is a Master Gardener garden, a great place to see lots of plant varieties. The garden has a veggie plot; the veggies are donated to the local food bank. It is so inspiring to see all those veggies blooming-artichokes, beans, kale, lettuces, brussel sprouts, etc.
Well, today the master gardeners were doing some harvesting. We stopped by to chat and investigate the kohlrobi, a purplish cabbage/turnip vegetable. Since they had such a small picking, they gave us an armful of veggies-zuchini (of course), kohlrabi, green beans, and kale. We talked a bit longer and they were very open to the girls participating this next spring with the garden. That was a quiet prayer answered, a secret desire of my heart. The Lord is so good, He connects people so much better than our fanagling ever could. Just another reminder that He hears our hearts.
