We are enjoying some beautiful weather here in WA! I keep waking up to clear skies and sunny days. We have played hookey this week- spending the afternoon at Jetty Island. Yesterday was a busy afternoon of kickball, capture the flag, and swim lessons. I love the summer!

Parade and Fireworks!
It was a cloudy, misty, cool day but it didn't rain, so all was good. The Arlington parade was lots of fun and very small-town. Reminds me of the Steamboat parade- tractors, little kids, local organizations, politicians, and candy throwing. We got great curb spots, Andy liked the "wave real nice - get some candy" angle. The girls were a little bummed that they are too old to candy grab anymore, it is just too embarrassing to scramble with the 5 yr. olds for a Tootsie Roll. But between them and brother they brought home a nice bag full for fireworks.
We had some yummy crock pot chili waiting for us when we got home from the parade. Michael made delicious homemade bread-perfect!! Then we tried for a family photo- just discovered the tripod and timer. Maybe got a good one!
Fireworks in the PNW are like none other-it is a total all out gunpowder extravaganza. We have found a perfect viewing spot not far from our house and can see the whole Northern Puget Sound-spectacular! It amazes us every year, all the fireworks in the neighborhoods are huge. Where do people get these things, and why isn't there a body count on July 5th? Andy was not keen on the noise, so he wore ear plugs and stayed in the car with his stash of parade candy. The girlies polished off their share of the sweet loot and had fun hanging in the camp chairs on the sidewalk.
The fireworks went on for a couple hours, but we were all so pooped that they didn't keep us awake. Fortunatley, our neighbors started shooting them off at 8, so they were all out by 10pm.

Happy Independence Day!
It is July the 4th and cloudy with a 40% chance of rain today! We are still waiting for summer here in the PNW, the forecast looks promising though. Sunny days ahead. This is our annual Family Fun Week-on the agenda bonfires, BBQing, Jetty Island, strawberry picking, and a trip to Forks, WA for some hiking.
