Dad stayed home and we completed "The Fort". It reminds us of something Lewis and Clark might have made, or something you may find an American soldier in Iraq living in. For the european version of the snow fort, check out Lilly's brothers' Materhorn! This giant has been hollowed out and has two rooms, a matt floor, and candles to keep it warm.

Shakelton Expedition II

According to the girls, the Shakelton Expedition would have been envious of this snow fort. It was an all day all neighborhood effort, but it got built. Pretty impressive! This will probably be the best snow fort we will ever build, since this is a freaky amount of snow for WA and we want to live somewhere sunny where snow is very unlikely!

The Snow Fort cometh...

That was the talk of the day- the snow fort and ensueing battle. The kiddos worked hard all morning and a bit more after lunch, then they were ready for battle stations. Pretty much all the kids in the neighborhood helped out. The battle seemed pretty tame to me, but they had fun and war stories to share.

The Penguins are coming....

You would think they are making their way down to WA with all the snow we have gotten over the past week. It is crazy and very unusual for WA to get so much snow and for it to stick for so long. The kids are loving the daily sledding, today is a fort building day. It is pretty if you are staying home, but very frustrating to get around.

Michael put on chains yesterday to get the car down the hill for the bus stop, it got him around fine on the test run. But this morning a chain broke off and wrapped around the axel and a wiper broke off when he was scraping the windows, so glad I wasn't driving. I had to cancel my Zumba class in Mukilteo, just no way I can drive in this stuff. The forecast is looking like rain this weekend so hopefully it will melt off some of this ice.

We are putting in some good work, since Mama can't go galavanting about. There will be sledding and fort building this afternoon, I'll post pictures of their creations.

Snowy WA-hoo!

We have had some record snowfall and some cold temps. The kids are loving the sledding, I'm liking the quiet of just staying home, Pepper is having fun tromping through the snow, and Michael is braving the snowy roads.

It looks like we will have a snowfall break until Sunday, then another round will hit the area. Since temps don't look like they are getting above 32, the ice may be here to stay for awhile.

Cinnamon Rolls

YUMMY! Michael got a baking urge, so he made cinnamon roll dough last night, and we just had the most scrumptious cinnamon rolls for breakfast this morning.

A Snowy Saturday

So what are the Barretts up to this snowy Saturday? Mama went to Zumba-a great fat kicking class! There are spies in the house-oh no! The Girlies and Daddy are playing Spy Alley, a fun espionage game where dress up is a major component. Andy is busy working on his letters and numbers, such a little professor.

We are supposed to have more snow and freezing temperatures, but nothing compared to CO snow and freezing temperature, just a cute snow storm. We went for a walk, and looked at all the neighborhood lights. The kids stayed out and played. They made a tiny snowman.
