I think that I shall never see.......

I finished planting our 7th tree in the past 3 weeks. (2) Green Maples, (2) Red, (1) Birch, a Plum and a Pear tree. We are putting our more involved landsaping ideas on hold until the spring, or when we have the money, but wanted to start getting the trees in so they can take root.

The soil here is terrible! We have no top soil, and the ground is solid clay with more rocks then dirt. My shovel is useless in it, so I purchased a pick, and have bent it beyond use already. We plan to put up a retaining wall made of recycled concrete, then mulch the hill. A nice pergola over the patio will finish it up nicely.

Emily took these pictures of a dragonfly we found. It is so crazy how much it looks like a helicopter.

The End of Summer

This is the last week of August, just a couple more weeks of summer 08. We have really had a fun filled sunny time; our goal was to soak in as much sunshine as possible before the rain starts. I think we really met our goal: camping at Kayak Point, blueberry picking, Jetty Island, bb-queing, concerts in the park, picnics, playing at the park, walks after dinner, and romping with the beagle.

We're not ready to give up the outdoors yet, September is looking like a busy month too. Andy's birthday party, a corn maze, camping, a trip to the zoo, and a waterpark (http://www.greatwolflodge.com/) are on the horizon. September is a nice month here in WA, so we will be thankful and enjoy!
